Apple’s iPhone 17 Air could bring a new ultra-thin design, replacing the iPhone 16 Plus in the lineup. Several rumours surfaced on the internet, suggesting that the iPhone 17 Air will feature a sleek and lightweight build, making it one of the thinnest iPhones ever.

However, to achieve this slim design, the phone may come with some hardware compromises.

iPhone 17 Air specifications (Rumoured)

Leaks are also suggesting that the iPhone 17 Air will have a single 48MP rear camera housed inside a full-width camera bar. This design differs from earlier reports, which claimed the camera would be positioned in the top centre of the phone.

The device’s thickness is expected to be between 5.5mm and 6mm, making it much thinner than current iPhone models.

Moreover, to keep the phone lightweight and slim, Apple may include less powerful specs compared to Pro models. Reports suggested that the iPhone 17 Air will run on the A19 chip instead of the A19 Pro.

The front camera and speakers could also have lower quality compared to higher-end iPhones. The single 48MP camera might as well lack optical zoom capabilities, a feature found in iPhones with multiple lenses.

iPhone 17 Air launch details (Rumoured)

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch in Fall 2025, alongside other iPhone 17 models. It remains to be seen whether customers will accept the trade-offs in exchange for a sleek, ultra-thin iPhone.
