To find this out, Allstate Protection Plans recently conducted tests showing the iPhone Air to be impressively durable, showcasing remarkable resilience.
The durability tests shed light on how well Apple’s new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air can withstand stress, allowing tech freaks a sneak peek into their real-world durability.
During bend tests, the iPhone Air bent at an impressive 86 kilograms of pressure, which indicates an incredible milestone for such a slim iPhone. Whereas the sturdier iPhone 17 Pro endured over 90 kilograms before showing any signs of deformation.
The noteworthy part of the story is that despite bearing immense pressure during the tests, both models functioned perfectly, demonstrating the strength of their redesigned frames. The most commendable remains the iPhone Air, which measures just 5.6 millimetres thick.
Coming to the iPhone 17 drop tests from a 1.8-metre height, the results were fascinating. Both devices’ front displays shattered but worked fine. The Ceramic Shield 2 panels cracked and left sharp edges, meaning there's a grave safety risk without protectors.
In rear drop tests, the iPhone 17 Pro withstand significantly better, sustaining only minor scuffs, while the iPhone Air’s back glass completely shattered.
These tests underline that while the iPhone Air is really tough with bending, it is more prone to damage from accidental drops, necessitating a protective case and screen protector.
