The Islamabad IT Park, Pakistan’s largest technology infrastructure project, is nearing completion after years of delays. Officials say 98% of the building’s structural work has been completed, while overall project progress stands at 80 percent.
The facility is now expected to be finished by late February, marking a major milestone for the country’s digital and technology ecosystem.
The project intends to house 120 startups and small to medium-sized businesses, offering amenities like classrooms, an auditorium, and testing labs, supported by a $76.3 million loan from South Korea.
Minister of State Shaza Fatima pointed out that more than half of the development was finished in the last year alone, while Project Director Amir Ahmad said that the only things left to do are internal systems and finishing touches.
Stronger oversight and renewed urgency at the highest levels, with the Prime Minister personally overseeing the project's advancement, are credited with this surge in progress.
The completion of this historic project is expected to open up new doors for Pakistan's technology industry and give the nation's digital future a much-needed boost.
