Ignite, operating under Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT), is preparing to launch the Prime Minister’s Cloud Program for Startups, a national initiative designed to help Pakistani startups adopt cloud technology in a cost-effective and sustainable way.

The PM Cloud Program focuses on reducing the heavy infrastructure burden that often slows down early-stage tech companies.

PM Cloud Program

PM Cloud Program directly addresses one of the most important pain points for founders: the high cost of cloud services. Through this program, qualified startups would get up to 60% reimbursement for cloud expenses, per a multi-tiered support system.

This discount is supposed to free up more money for the startup to invest in product development, recruitment, and market reach. Ignite has described that there will be specific terms and conditions for each tier of the reimbursement.

Along with financial support, the PM Cloud Program also extended technical assistance for sustainable impact. It would provide guidance on cloud onboarding, optimisation, and effective utilisation to the startups.

Ignite is also partnering, at the same time, with both local and global cloud service providers, strengthening the overall digital support ecosystem for Pakistani startups.

The initiative has inclusivity as one of its core features. Indeed, Ignite has clarified that both NIC-incubated and non-NIC startups are eligible to apply.

A company, accordingly, whether backed by a National Incubation Centre or independently operating, will see equal access to the programme through a transparent selection process.

As per the officials of the MoITT-backed Ignite programme, the further details, including eligibility criteria, timelines for the application, and full terms, will be announced in due course.

For now, it is marked as "Coming Soon", but it is seen as a major step towards strengthening Digital Pakistan and scaling up responsible startups.
