The Green Line and Red Line transport projects have been delayed for so long that Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has voiced his displeasure and warned that they may not be finished until 2035.

Wahab cautioned, "The projects might not be completed even by 2035," emphasising the significance of a precise timeline and resolution.

In an announcement, Wahab urged the Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company Limited (PIDCL) to address the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation's (KMC) concerns about road repairs, damaged walkways, and project timelines, as well as to provide a clear completion date.

Wahab emphasised that even with an NOC granted in 2017, the projects are still unfinished and are causing a great deal of suffering for the populace.

He cautioned that ongoing delays are worsening the state of the city and underlined the necessity of local leadership involvement to ensure timely completion.

The mayor recalled the issues encountered during the Green Line project, specifically in the vicinity of Nagan Chowrangi and KDA Chowrangi, as well as the ongoing disturbances on University Road brought on by the Red Line project.

He further stated, "The citizens are suffering," emphasising the necessity for PIDCL to allay KMC's worries and offer a precise completion date.

Wahab underlined that to guarantee the projects' timely completion and minimise disturbances to the city's citizens, local leadership involvement is essential.

The infrastructure and citizens of Karachi are greatly impacted by the delays in the Red Line and Green Line projects.

The mayor's worries emphasise the necessity of taking immediate action to resolve problems and guarantee the completion of projects.
