In an attempt to drive Pakistan's industrial and, subsequently, economic growth, Pakistan is set to establish a series of cutting-edge centres focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), research and development (R&D), and skills training.
This initiative was announced during a high-level meeting chaired by Haroon Akhtar Khan, the special assistant to the Prime Minister on industries and production, with CEOs from the Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) and the Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC).
Major upcoming projects in Pakistan include the creation of a Mining and Mineral Processing Technology Centre, a Women Digital Skills Development Centre, and an AI and Digital Twin Centre. These measures are all aimed at enhancing the technological landscape of Pakistan.
In addition to these centres, Khan highlighted plans for developing Seafood Processing, Packaging, and Storage Plants, as well as modern abattoirs and meat processing facilities across the country.
He urged PITAC and TUSDEC to learn from advanced international models to replicate successful skills and technologies in Pakistan.
Khan also emphasised the need for Pakistan to keep pace with global advancements in AI.
Khan praised PITAC's efforts in modern skill training and expressed willingness to meet and encourage students excelling in their programmes.
