Meta's Threads has introduced a new feature that lets users tag their location in posts. This exciting update enables users to share their approximate location, promoting community engagement and discovery.
Threads location tagging feature
Location tagging makes it easier for users to include context in their posts based on experience while making others find it easier to understand their experiences and connect with them on a local level.
How Threads location tagging feature work?
When composing a post, the user would notice a pin icon. Tapping on it lets choose the level of detail, therefore, a user can choose what suits requirements.
The Threads users could simply mention that they are in Portland, or choose an exact neighbourhood or a certain restaurant. There is no detailed map pin; the system gives only an approximate location, thereby maintaining user's privacy.

The location-tagging feature should feel familiar to Instagram users, as it behaves similarly to Instagram's location-tagging functionality.

The location tagging feature on Threads exists on the mobile application only, or iOS and Android. The support for desktop browser support would be coming about very soon.
Moreover, with location tagging capability, Threads intends to constitute community building and local discovery.
Users discover posts regarding specific locations and connect with others based on the area about experiencing and recommending places in the local environment.
Businesses and organisations also utilise location tagging to advocate for their local events and services, engage with customers, and track location-based conversations.
