In spite of immense advancements, we don't get to see the capacity of building personalised apps even with artificial intelligence (AI), even in some of the most expensive smartphones, but Nothing has introduced Playground, a new app store allowing users to create their own AI-generated applications.

While Nothing's Playground is built on Android and not an operating system, it indicates an incredible move towards the normalisation of a more personalised smartphone experience.

Nothing Founder Carl Pei described Essential, the umbrella term for their AI products, as a move towards “devices adapt[ing] to people, not the other way around.”

Nothing phone users can create their own apps with Essential Apps

As reported by The Verge, Playground allows users to create apps using Essential Apps, an AI-powered tool that transforms text prompts into simple applications.

That said, Nothing smartphone users can now design apps as per their needs, such as mood trackers that sync with music playlists or wardrobe suggestion tools.

Although it's currently limited to widget design, Pei expressed hope for a future where app creation will be “more and more seamless,” potentially using voice commands directly on the phone.

The consumer electronics giant's Essential Apps also fosters a new creator economy by enabling users to remix apps created by others.
