According to the latest international passport index, the passport ranking for Pakistan has come out as one of the weakest in the world and stands at 91st position globally, whereas Somalia stands alongside with the same ranking.
The country scored 33.5 overall points, thus depicting continuous difficulties faced by Pakistani travellers.
Unlike rankings, which are solely based on visa-free access, this index evaluates passports on a broader set of indicators, including travel freedom, taxation policies, global perception, dual citizenship rules, and personal freedom.
To date, Pakistani passport holders have the option to travel to 45 destinations without any visa on arrival, visa-free entry, or electronic travel authorisation. The travel score to Pakistan is, therefore, 45 and forms 50% of the total ranking.
However, when it came to taxation, Pakistan scored 20, which means citizens can legally shift abroad to avoid domestic tax liability.
Another score for the passport was based on global perception, at 20, so it means one would often face moderate scrutiny during one's travel abroad.
Pakistan obtained a dual citizenship score of 30, as citizens are allowed to hold dual citizenship, though with some limitations. The country performed worst in personal freedom, however, with a score of 20 and an overall worldwide position in the lower tier.
