The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has launched 14 e-Rozgar centres across Pakistan to promote freelancing and digital entrepreneurship. The initiative, part of the Prime Minister’s Digital Strategy will create jobs and help young professionals earn through online platforms.
According to the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), work is underway to establish 20 more centres, with a target of 250 centres by February 2027. These centres will provide internet access, workspaces, and training to help Pakistan’s youth compete in the global digital economy.
Moreover, the project is expected to contribute $50 million annually to the economy. The plan ensures that every district in Pakistan gets at least one e-Rozgar centre.
Punjab will have 149 centres, Sindh 51, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 28, Islamabad 11, Balochistan six, Azad Kashmir three, and Gilgit-Baltistan two. The government will offer interest-free loans of up to Rs10 million to building owners willing to provide space for these centres.
The government publishes Expression of Interest (EoI) notices in newspapers and online platforms to establish the centres. An independent committee selects suitable locations for the centres. In addition to infrastructure support, the programme provides free freelancing training to developers and covers marketing expenses.
