Are you a Pakistani struggling to find the best telecom service provider in terms of mobile internet speed? If so, then this is why the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has published its mobile internet speed rankings for the second quarter of 2025, letting you know about the performance of Pakistan’s major telecom operators.
According to the PTA’s Quality of Service (QoS) survey, Zong 4G secured the highest average download and upload speeds, solidifying its status as the leading mobile network in Pakistan.
On the other hand, Jazz and Telenor gained second and third place, while Ufone ranked last during the assessment period.
Although upload speeds across all four networks had trivial differences, download speeds showed a significant disparity. Zong’s average download speed of 25.64 Mbps surpassed Ufone’s by over 10 Mbps, which was recorded at 15.36 Mbps.
The survey was conducted in 13 major cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Quetta, and Muzaffarabad.
To ensure reliable results, the telecom regulator used specialised drive test tools and benchmarking software installed in vehicles.
Data was gathered from over 117,000 mobile data sessions and 44,000 voice calls to evaluate the following key metrics:
- Download and upload speed
- Latency
- Signal strength
The PTA stated that the survey was meant to promote transparency, guide consumer choice, and encourage telecom companies to improve service quality.
