In a remarkable move to facilitate citizens across Punjab, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has rolled out a revamped version of its Public Safety App, which is now capable of functioning without internet or incurring any data charges.

The initiative has been introduced to boost citizen protection and make emergency help more accessible.

Citing sources, ProPakistani noted that the app will be free of data charges for the next 30 days under an agreement with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

The new app has been tailored to support vulnerable groups, including people with visual, hearing, or speech impairments, as well as individuals with epilepsy or mental health challenges.

Trained agents fluent in sign language will assist users instantly during crises. A lock screen feature now lets users display their disability type and an emergency contact number to speed up rescue efforts.

Other smart features include gesture-based SOS alerts, fall detection for epilepsy patients, accident alerts, family location tracking, and flood-related warnings.

The platform allows users to reach emergency services via calls, live chat, or video calls. It connects to fire brigades, ambulances, Motorway Police, Punjab Highway Patrol, and disaster response agencies.

Citizens can also report crimes, track complaints, check e-challans, and register missing or found children.

Available in Urdu and English, the Punjab Public Safety app appears willing to make safety quick and accessible for everyone.
