
Qualcomm unveiled its long-awaited Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset on Tuesday (October 22) during the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. The new mobile processor brings various improvements and upgrades, including on-device generative artificial intelligence (AI).
Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset specifications
Launched with the model number SM8750-AB, Qualcomm’s new chipset comes as the successor to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, aiming to deliver 27% more power efficiency compared to its predecessor.
The processor is built on a 64-bit architecture based on a 3-nanometre fabrication process and includes a second-generation custom-built Qualcomm Oryon CPU with eight cores, having a peak clock speed of 4.32GHz.

Qualcomm has claimed that the new Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC can deliver a 45% improvement in both single and multi-core performance; however, web browsing will be improved by 62%.
Snapdragon 8 Elite's AI capabilities
The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip supports on-device generative AI, multi-modal capabilities, and longer token inputs for live-view prompts. The company has also revamped the parts of the chip to handle tasks such as generating images and text.
Devices equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip can support up to 320MP camera sensors, offering AI-based capabilities such as auto-exposure, auto-focus, and face detection.
Snapdragon 8 Elite also introduces Unreal Engine 5's Nanite solution for enabling film-quality 3D environments for smartphone gaming.
Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset availability
According to the company, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset will be available in the upcoming weeks with Realme GT 7 Pro being the first smartphone to feature this chipset.
However, other brands, including Asus, Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, Oppo, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi will also use Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in their devices.
