The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Langrial on Friday revealed that the authority is working on more tax relief for the salaried class in the next fiscal year’s budget.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), the FBR chairman said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed a reduction in tax rates for the salaried individuals.
Langrial further added that work has begun to reduce income tax rates for employees. The federal government is currently reviewing the super tax applied on large companies with plans to lower it in the next fiscal year's budget.
Officials said these measures are part of a broader strategy to attract investment and support businesses while helping individuals retain more of their earnings.
Moreover, the government will make a final decision after the discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding the reduction and abolition of the super tax.
It should be noted that the federal government announced a relief for the salaried class in its budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 as income tax rates for middle- and high-income earners were slashed.
