The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday announced that banks will remain open on Saturday (November 29) in order to facilitate the taxpayers in payment of government duties/taxes.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the central bank stated: "To facilitate taxpayers’ payments of government duties and taxes, all branches that open on Saturday shall observe extended working hours from 09am to 05pm on November 29, 2025."

The SBP further stated that to enable same-day clearing/settlement, all instruments related to government payments presented on November 29 will be collected through a Special Clearing by National Institutional Facilitation Technology (NIFT) at 5:30pm, with clearing results to be provided by 11:30pm the same night.

It should be noted that designated National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) branches collecting government receipts manually need to settle transactions with their respective SBP-BSC field offices or head office on the same day. This will follow the completion of the same-day clearing process.
