Samsung is set to broaden its AI Subscription Club to include Galaxy smartphones and its AI-powered in-home robot "Ballie".
The move follows the launch of a subscription model for AI-powered home appliances in South Korea in December, which offered consumers a lower upfront cost with monthly payments.
Samsung to add Galaxy smartphones to AI Subscription Club
As per ETNews report, Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and CEO Han Jong-hee confirmed that the AI subscription service would begin rolling out to Galaxy smartphones next month.
The Ballie AI robot, originally unveiled at Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2020, will also launch as part of the subscription service in South Korea and the United States.
Jong-hee clarified that to access Galaxy AI features it won’t be mandatory to subscribe to this service as Samsung has committed to keep these features free for all users until the end of 2025.
Currently, the AI Subscription Club allows South Korean consumers to subscribe to AI-powered home appliances, including TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines.
Subscribers enjoy optional repair and maintenance services in exchange for a lower initial purchase cost.
While it remains unclear how the subscription model will work for Galaxy smartphones and Ballie robots, it might offer similar benefits, such as device maintenance or advanced AI features.
