The gaming fraternity of the netizens is buzzing with excitement as a rumour has it that Sony is discreetly working on a handheld device, known as “Canis.”

In light of the leak concerned, the dockable PS6 handheld will likely surpass the PlayStation 5 when connected to a TV, thanks to its supposed capability of merging portability with impressive console power.

Mirroring some of the prominent Nintendo Switch charecteristics, Sony's rumoured Canis handheld could be a formidable contender in the next-gen gaming arena.

The tip was surfaced by the YouTube channel Moore’s Law Is Dead, which cited internal AMD documents as the source. If the cited evidence has anthing to go by, the entertainment conglomerate could take an unwavering leap back into the dedicated handheld market for the first time since the PS Vita.

Leaked specs of the PS6 Handheld

Other reports claimed that Sony is aiming for a late 2027 launch alongside the standard PS6 console.

Key specifications of Sony's tipped Canis handheld include:

  1. Processor: Custom AMD APU with 4 Zen 6 CPU cores and 2 auxiliary cores
  2. Graphics: RDNA 5 GPU with 16 compute units, reaching 1.65GHz in docked mode
  3. Performance: Ray tracing capabilities up to 2.6 times faster than the PS5, with rasterization slightly below PS5 levels
  4. Compatibility: Backward support for PS4 and PS5 titles
  5. Price: Expected to be around $500
