This launch signifies significant progress in Telenor’s digital transformation journey and demonstrates the company's commitment to convenience for the customer.
By utilising WhatsApp, a reliable app that millions use every day, Telenor aims to provide a safe, contactless experience that customers who are both literate and non-literate can easily use.
Customers can access the service by way of WhatsApp UAN: 051 111-345-100, select their city, choose their number and bundle, provide the information, pay for the purchase, and have their SIM delivered directly to their doorstep.
Once the SIM is received by the customer, it will be biometrically verified at the time of delivery for verification purposes and to comply with regulations.
Telenor Pakistan's Chief Consumer Business Officer, Waqas Amanullah, stated the new service is confirmation of Telenor's commitment to digital innovation.
“By enabling SIM purchases and bundle management through WhatsApp, we are putting the power of connectivity directly into our customers’ hands,” he said. “This initiative supports our broader vision of promoting digital inclusion across Pakistan.”
At launch, the WhatsApp SIM and bundle service are available in more than 20 major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Peshawar, and will soon expand into even more cities. The bundle recharge option is available nationwide in both rural and semi-urban areas.
