As a result of a long-haul tragedy, the renowned short-video platform, TikTok, stopped working in the US on Sunday following the implementation of a law mandating a TikTok ban.

The social media app pulled the plug on its US operations amid reports pointing to a possible intervention of the Trump administration to adjourn the ban.

In addition to ceasing its operations across platforms, including web and mobile, the country has also removed the app from the App Store and Google Play.

As reported by Reuters, in what appears to be an indication of a miraculous comeback, when users attempted to open the app, the platform stated that a law would "force us to make our services temporarily unavailable. We're working to restore our service in the US as soon as possible."

From frequent TikTok users and some credible news outlets, reports circulating on the internet also claimed that a pop-up message displayed upon attempting to use the app says the app is temporarily unavailable in the country, hinting at a possible return or coming to common terms with regulations in place.

To the dismay of those eager to find TikTok alternatives, it was also learned that Lemon8 —a lifestyle community-focused app powered by TikTok— alongside CapCut, was also banned in the US and removed from US app stores.

Both the apps were owned by TikTok-parent ByteDance based in China.
