In a move to establish a strong foothold for its electric vehicles (EVs) in China, Toyota officially unveiled the production model of its bZ7 all-electric sedan at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. The sedan is ready to be mass-produced and sold to the public.

The Toyota bZ7 is being developed through a joint venture with GAC-Toyota, and will be the first model from this collaboration to feature Huawei’s HarmonyOS cockpit system, a platform specifically designed for Chinese consumers.

The bZ7 was first introduced as a concept at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, and the production model has revealed Toyota’s commitment to fulfilling the local market demands.

Toyota bZ7 design and features

The bZ7 boasts a sleek, aerodynamic design with a closed-off front, slender C-shaped headlights, and a lidar sensor mounted atop the vehicle. This highly modern and sporty design hints at advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Complementing its luring, dynamic appearance are a full-width taillight, high-mounted brake light, sporty rear wing, fastback-style roofline, and large 21-inch wheels.

Ditching the features touted with its concept version last year, this production version has conventional side mirrors and door handles.

Coming to the exterior, notable elements of the Toyota bZ7's cabin include ambient lighting, a floating central touchscreen, an embedded digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pads, and a three-spoke steering wheel.

The company did not take the wraps off Toyota bZ7's official powertrain details, which means further announcements will be made later this year.
