UAE expands e-visa options: GCC residents now allowed for visa extension

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Digital Government announced on Monday (October 14) that residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries along with their companions are now allowed to apply for a 30-day e-visa to enter the UAE and have the option to extend it for 30 more days. 

Earlier, GCC residents were not allowed for e-visa extension while residing in the same country. The e-visa is profoundly significant for the residents of Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar.

Your e-visa can be easily processed through Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) and the advanced channels of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).

The e-visa application process involves a few conditions that are as follows:

Approval notifications:

  • Once your e-visa is approved, you will receive it in the registered email.

Travel with your sponsor:

  • Travelling with a sponsor (GCC citizen) is mandatory to get your applications approved, otherwise, it will never get approved.

Entry permit validity

Here are the entry permit validity details for better comprehension of e-visa extension:

GCC residents

  • The time period of entry permit validity is only for 30 days from your e-visa issue date, however; it can be prolonged for 30 days more.

Companions of GCC Citizens

  • GCC citizen's companions will receive their entry permit validity for 60 days which can be extended for the next 60 days more.
