WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for iOS users, making it easier to initiate phone calls within the app.

Spotted in the latest WhatsApp iOS 25.1.8 version, this update is currently rolling out to iOS users and can be downloaded from the App Store.

Phone call dialer on WhatsApp for iOS

The phone call dialer allows users to add the entered number to their contact list without leaving the app.

The updated calling tab now includes a secondary view with three convenient shortcuts.

These shortcuts enable users to quickly start a new call, create a call link, or manually enter a phone number even if it's not saved in their contacts.

To access this feature, users can tap the "Create a new call" button within the calls tab. Upon tapping this button, a "Call a Number" option appears, navigating to a dialling interface with a dial pad.

Users can enter a phone number, and WhatsApp will check if it belongs to a registered user on the platform.

If the number is associated with a WhatsApp account, the app will indicate this with a confirmation message. However, if the number belongs to a verified business account, a verification badge will be displayed.

This feature also helps users determine if the number they're trying to contact is reachable on WhatsApp.
