WhatsApp has launched a new 'Generative AI-powered images for Status updates' feature that allows users to create and share custom visuals based on text prompts.
According to WABetaInfo, the new feature — developed by Meta AI technology — is available to select iOS and Android users, with a wide launch expected soon.
The new feature lets users put a text prompt such as "a sunset over mountains," and Meta AI generates different image variations based on the provided prompt. Users can also preview, refine, and apply the results to all chats or to any specific chat for a more advanced messaging experience.
The Meta-owned instant messaging app aims to give you a unique experience; instead of depending on pictures or short videos, you can now frame your own imaginative, story-like updates.
How to use AI image generation feature on WhatsApp?
To create an AI image for your WhatsApp Status, follow the steps below:
- On WhatsApp, open the 'Update' tab to create a new Status and choose the 'AI Image' option.
- Type a text prompt, describing what you want the image to depict, like 'cyberpunk city at dusk'.
- Then, Meta AI will generate multiple results, letting users scroll through them and pick the one they like.
- If you don't like the results, refresh or adjust your text prompt and get new options.
- Once the image is selected, you can add stickers, caption or text overlays.
- After all the changes, you can tap 'Send' to share the AI image as a Status update.
