In an effort to improve safety and transparency on its platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, is testing new features that give users more details about the accounts they interact with.

Among these features are the ability to see the country in which an account is located and the frequency of username changes.

X's new country and username history details feature

According to X Head of Product Nikita Bier, the platform is testing displaying username history and country information on profiles.

By giving users crucial information about the accounts they interact with, this action seeks to lessen hate speech and scams.

Users will be able to more easily spot possible scams or fraudulent accounts, as the feature will show the country of origin for each account.

Furthermore, X will display the frequency of username changes for an account as well as the most recent change date.

Users can monitor account activity and spot potentially suspicious activity with the aid of this feature.

According to Bier, these features might be optional, giving users the option to decide whether or not to include this data on their profiles. On their profile, it might be indicated if users decide to opt out.

Currently undergoing testing, these new features will first be made available to a select group of X team members, which will include X CEO Elon Musk, X Vice President Keith Coleman, and Bier. This test group's input will assist X in improving the features and making sure they satisfy user requirements.
