Meta has introduced the Instagram Map feature in Pakistan, which provides users with an engaging way to find content, locate local activities, and connect with friends, while providing privacy measures for their stories and reels.
The feature can be accessed from the top of the users’ DM inbox to share a location and allow users to view their stories, reels, posts and notes that are tagged at locations.
They can now see what friends and creators are posting about nearby concert venues, fun coffee shops, or local neighbourhoods.
Meta's Instagram Map feature
Meta stylises that they maintained privacy before, during and after the experience. Location sharing is turned off before they access the map, and they can share with friends, close friends, or not share at all the last active location.

The map has an indicator at the top that will clearly state if location sharing is turned on, and there are reminders after when adding location tags. Parents of teens using Instagram also have oversight of their child’s sharing settings while they are supervised by the parent.
Meta adds that they took user feedback and are continually refining Instagram Map. Such tuning includes using a common absence of profile photos from shared content on the map; being clearer with toggling on/off location if location sharing is not involved; and how tagged content will appear in previews on the map.
