The announcement of winter vacation dates for Punjab schools would apply to all types of schools, including English-medium, Cambridge-based institutions, madaris, and community schools.
The winter break is taken in a bid to protect students from harsh weather, fog, and seasonal ailments that peak in late December. The provincial government extended the holiday due to expected cold waves and visibility issues due to fog that can make morning commutes hazardous.
Families travelling during the holidays should plan daytime trips due to common motorway closures and flight delays caused by dense fog.
