As satellite connectivity in smartphones is becoming a new norm, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, is gaining traction ahead of its anticipated launch in early 2026, featuring purportedly advanced connectivity features.

While excitement was already building with leaks and reports claiming this and that about the upcoming handset, Chinese sources have revealed that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has received regulatory approval for direct satellite communication.

This certification means the new Xiaomi flagship will be compatible with Tiantong-1 and Beidou networks, allowing users to make satellite calls and send messages, all in the absence of mobile signals.

The notable aspect of the development is the rumoured support for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, a first for Xiaomi’s flagship range. This property could enhance device tracking and improve integration across Xiaomi’s smart ecosystem.

The most intriguing detail is the model number 25128PNA1C, mentioned in the approval lists. This model number differs from earlier leaks in September.

This difference is likely an impression of a China-exclusive version with satellite capabilities or possibly two distinct models for various markets.

While the Chinese smartphone maker has not confirmed any specifics yet about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the certification in question suggests that the 17 Ultra will take the brand’s innovation to new heights.
