Xiaomi has long followed a familiar pattern: launch a new Redmi K series in China and rebrand it as a Poco F series for international markets.
The case continues this year, with the forthcoming Poco F8 Ultra and F8 Pro expected to be rebranded versions of the Redmi K90 Pro Max and K90 Pro, respectively.
Xiaomi Poco F8 series rumours
Reportedly, a recent leak indicates that the global Poco versions will be offered with smaller battery packs when compared with their Chinese counterparts.
Both Redmi and Poco share the same Xiaomi umbrella and come equipped with similar designs and performance specifications.
The above-referenced Redmi K90 Pro Max was originally launched as one of the first phones with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, featuring a massive 7,560mAh battery to sustain the challenges of day-to-day usage over a period of two days.
According to a prominent tipster, Kacper Skrzypek, he claims to have discovered, as well, within HyperOS source code, that the global Poco versions would feature slightly reduced battery capacities.
Reportedly, the 7,100mAh battery of the Redmi K90 Pro shrinks further to 6,210mAh for the Poco F8 Pro, and the 7,560mAh battery of the Redmi K90 Pro Max drops further to 6,500mAh for the Poco F8 Ultra.
While arguably not a major difference in battery capacity, the distinction can cause a difference in endurance over the course of time, particularly given the larger OLED displays with higher refresh rates.
Moreover, the Poco F8 Pro will feature a 6.59-inch OLED panel, while the F8 Ultra could sport a 6.9-inch 2K OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Both will likely run Android 16 with HyperOS 3.
