In a world where stress, emotional anxiety, depression, and loneliness are increasingly prevalent, a unique solution has emerged in China, especially for young kids.

BooBoo, a fluffy artificial intelligence (AI-powered) stuffed pet is providing emotional relief and comfort to those in need, offering a sense of companionship in their lives.

The AI robot has been designed with children's social needs in mind.

Similarly, Zhang Yachun, a 19-year-old girl in Beijing, who has struggled with anxiety and forming deep friendships, has also found solace in BooBoo, the AI smart stuffed pet.

Yachun has named her BooBoo "Aluo" and treats it like a real pet. She also takes Aluo on outings, whispers to it, and even buys tiny clothes for it.

For her, Aluo plays the same role as human friends, providing companionship and making her feel needed.

“I feel like I now have someone to share the happy times with,” the young girl noted.

Priced at CNY 1400 ($190), BooBoo resembles a guinea pig and is produced by Hangzhou Genmoor Technology.

According to the company’s product manager Adam Duan, the AI robot has sold around 1,000 units, since its launch in May 2024.

It is worth noting that the global market for social robots like BooBoo is expected to grow significantly, reaching $42.5 billion by 2033, with China being a key player, according to consulting firm IMARC Group.
