The Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja met with Google’s Regional AI Developer Ecosystem team to discuss ways to bolster our artificial intelligence (AI) makeup in Pakistan.

The primary discussion included AI training, digital evolution, and increasing opportunities to educate the youth in the technology sector.

The meeting emphasised what Google has been initiating in Pakistan, namely Google Developer Groups (GDGs) and TaleemAabaad, aimed at building technology talent from the ground up.

Notably, both also talked about the importance of adopting AI in various sectors, training humans with the right human skills, and building technology communities across the country.

Fatima commended Google for its support of local innovation in Pakistan and said the government strives for transformation, addressing and international collaboration.

“We think AI is not a trend but a module for empowering youth, adding jobs, and enhancing public services,” she added.

The minister also met with N+1, a team of young Pakistani developers who secured a place in the top 10 at the Google Solution Challenge in the Philippines. She congratulated them and referred to it by describing it as a proud moment for Pakistan.

“Our youth are validating their talent on international platforms. The government is here to support every step of the way," she stated.

The meeting ended with both sides agreeing to work together on long-term plans for ethical AI development, access to global tools, and training programs for developers in Pakistan.
