In a major move, YouTube has announced that the removal of its Trending Page, a feature that has been a mainstay of the website for more than ten years.

The choice, which was made public in a blog post, represents a significant change in how users will find content on the massive video-sharing platform.

YouTube claims that over the last five years, the Trending Page, which was first launched in 2015, has seen a significant drop in visits.

This drop is ascribed to a shift in user behaviour, as they depend more on other sections of the platform to keep up with trends.

Moreover, search suggestions, personalised recommendations, and other features like communities, comments, and shorts increase the likelihood that users will find new content.

Initially intended to display the most well-liked and trending videos, the Trending Page has developed into a venue for content producers to brag about their hits and views.

YouTube is focusing on other features to make content discovery easier, once the Trending Page discontinued.

Users will be able to view a "wider range of popular content" that is pertinent to their interests due to the platform's ongoing personalised video recommendations.

However, YouTube Charts, which presently offers trending music videos, weekly top podcasts, and trending movie trailers, will continue to allow users to find popular content in particular categories.

In order to give users access to a wide variety of trending content, the company is working on adding more content categories to Charts.

Moreover, YouTube will keep showcasing popular videos on the Gaming Explore page for gamers.

To find new content that might not be tailored to their tastes, users can also browse the Explore Page, the channels of their favourite content producers, and their subscription feed.

Users can anticipate new and exciting features that improve their experience finding content as the platform develops and innovates further.
