YouTube is testing a generative artificial intelligence (AI) feature that will allow users to create custom radio stations based on their prompts.
Once rolled out, an 'Ask for music any way you like' prompt will appear on the app’s home screen. This launches a chat-based UI with a field at the bottom for users to 'Ask for music,' accompanied by an 'experiment' badge in the top-right corner.
The feature will support voice input, allowing users to describe their music preferences. As YouTube Music (YTM) notes: "AI-generated responses are experimental. Quality and accuracy may vary. Please don’t enter confidential or personal information regarding yourself or others."

The app provides a carousel of suggested prompts, such as Catchy pop choruses, Epic soundtracks, Upbeat pop anthems, and Moscow rock scene, along with a "Surprise me!" option. YouTube Music will then generate a radio station, using the existing playlist card to display the result. Your prompt is used as the station name, labeled with "Created for you," and accompanied by a description.
So far, there is only one report of YTM's AI radio creator. Unfortunately, YouTube Music does not have a youtube.com/new equivalent to let more people test this feature. It remains to be seen whether this will require a YouTube Premium subscription.
YouTube Premium individual plan
The basic plan for individuals costs $13.99 monthly when subscribing on the web or via an Android device. However, iOS users are charged $18.99 monthly if they subscribe through the YouTube app on their iPhone or iPad, due to YouTube passing along Apple’s fee for in-app transactions.
Apple users can avoid the price hike by subscribing directly on the YouTube website rather than through the app.
