YouTube Music (YTM) is rolling out a new, ‘Sound Search’ feature which will let users "play, listen or sing a song" to find it.
The site dropped the feature, now known as "sound search", back in May but now has resurrected it for Android and iOS versions 7.10 of the YouTue app.
Besides having the app listen to a live song, users can ‘try singing the lyrics or humming the melody’.
How to use Sound Search on YouTue Music
By tapping on the magnifying glass icon at the top-right corner, a waveform next to a microphone will appear.

A vibrant page will emerge, prompting the users to ‘play sing or hum a song’, the latter was made compatible with Google search back in 2020, and it’s been in the YouTube app since last October.
AI (artificial intelligence) is used “to match the sound to the original recording.” The feature is pretty intuitive, the search results page pulls up a full-page UI (user interface) detailing: cover art, song name, artist, and album, along with buttons to download the music or add it to a playlist.
Users can exit the screen by tapping on the top-left corner or making another search. YTM has been testing this feature since March while Google Play already had such a feature a long time ago.
Sound Search is a server-wide update, it has come to Android via 7.02, while an iOS release schedule is in the pipeline.
