A potential blackout of major channels, such as CBS has been averted for YouTube TV subscribers, as it has reached a new agreement with Paramount.
This development comes following YouTube TV's latest price hike, which took effect just a month ago, with the base plan now costing $82.99 per month.
YouTube TV-Paramount issue resolved
On Tuesday (February 12), YouTube TV informed its existing subscribers that ongoing negotiations with Paramount had met with an unforeseen difficulty, putting CBS, CBS Sports, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, and several other channels at risk of being removed from the service.
However, in a swift reversal, YouTube TV has announced that a deal had been struck, securing the continued availability of Paramount's channels and content.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), YouTube TV confirmed that Paramount channels and add-ons would "remain uninterrupted."
Moreover, a notice on the TV service's support forums expressed gratitude to subscribers for their patience during the negotiations.
The agreement ensures that YouTube TV will continue to offer over 100 Paramount channels and add-ons, including Paramount+.
Notably, if the dispute persisted for an extended period, YouTube TV was to offer its existing subscribers an $8 credit as compensation.
