Indicating the overwhelming reach of its proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted that Meta AI, the company’s AI assistant, is now used by one billion people each month across all platforms.
Meta AI hits one billion monthly users
Meta AI's massive user base places the company as a formidable contender against tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI amid ever-intensifying competition in the Gen AI space.
While Zuckerberg celebrated this milestone, it was not detailed as to what percentage of the Meta AI fanbase actively seeks the chatbot compared to those who use it passively through integrated features within Meta’s apps.
On the other hand, Google’s AI Overviews, introduced just a year ago, have attracted over 1.5 billion users, according to Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
Pichai also outlined that Google’s dedicated Gemini AI app has crossed 400 million monthly users.
In a bid to reduce reliance on Google and Bing, Meta released its first standalone AI assistant app on April 29, allowing users direct access to its Gen AI models.
The Meta CEO described the app as a personal AI, which is primarily accessed through voice interactions and focused on enhancing user experience, particularly on WhatsApp.
