Aimed at supporting artificial intelligence (AI) startups, driving innovation, and connecting Pakistani AI solutions to the global market, a new AI Innovation Lab is being established in Karachi.

The initiative is expected to attract foreign investment and partnerships, creating new opportunities for the tech sector in Pakistan.

The development was announced by Mehwish Salman Ali, a seasoned Pakistan-based entrepreneur and the CEO of Data Vault Pakistan, at the International Digital Cooperation Forum (IDCF) organised by the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) in Dead Sea, Jordan.

She highlighted that the lab would provide resources, mentoring, and facilitation to AI entrepreneurs and help them grow in the international AI ecosystem.

"The AI Innovation Lab will provide facilitation, resources, and mentorship to entrepreneurs in the AI sector to contribute to the global landscape of technology. The initiative is set to position Pakistan as a leader in AI development and technological entrepreneurship," said Mehwish.

Mehwish represented Pakistan in the 4th General Assembly of IDCF, where she put Pakistan's contribution towards developing the talent in AI into the limelight. “Pakistan has a crucial role in sourcing world-class AI talent and making significant contributions to the global AI ecosystem,” she stated.

Besides a meet and greet session with Saudi Arabia's Elm, Portugal's Secretary of State for Modernisation and Digitalisation, and Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications, and IT, Mehwish met with global tech leaders to showcase Pakistan's AI strengths.

Oman even extended an invitation to Data Vault to set up an office in the country, with a focus on AI-driven solutions for international markets.
