Punjab took a significant step towards enhancing its aviation sector as Air Punjab prepared to take to the skies in March 2026.
The official debut of the provincial airline's domestic services will take place on the Lahore-Islamabad route with its first aircraft.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif envisioned this large-scale project to enhance domestic air connectivity, provide reasonably priced travel options, and bolster Punjab's position in the aviation sector.
According to officials, Air Punjab played a crucial role in improving passenger convenience and generating new jobs.
Sharif instructed officials to launch Air Punjab as soon as possible, stressing the need for comfortable, contemporary planes.
The airline intended to start by leasing six aircraft before expanding to international destinations.
The project aligned with Punjab's larger goal for economic modernisation and development, including improvements to public transport, infrastructure, and tourism.
