Apple’s iOS 18 is ready to transform the way iPhone users communicate, specifically with their Android peers. The introduction of Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging into the iPhone’s Messages app marks a major leap forward in cross-platform texting.

The new upgrade doesn’t just enhance everyday texting — iOS 18 allows you to send messages through satellite, assuring connectivity even in remote areas.

Check your carrier's support

Currently, different phone carriers in the US support RCS, but not all like Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile allow you to use RCS on iPhones with iOS 18. There's an easy way to check if you can use RCS or not.

  • Open Settings
  • Tap General
  • Tap About
  • Tap Carrier

If RCS is supported, you'll view Voice, SMS & RCS. If not, it'll display Voice & SMS

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Apps at the bottom of the menu.
  • Tap Messages. Tap the toggle next to RCS Messaging under Text Messaging. To disable RCS, follow the steps again.
