Apple is set to launch three new Home products this year, including the HomePod, a new Apple TV 4K, and the HomePod mini 2. Among these, the Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 will feature a new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip designed in-house by Apple.

Codenamed Proxima, this chip is part of Apple’s strategy to create a seamless and energy-efficient wireless ecosystem.

It will improve device connectivity, enabling Apple products to synchronise faster and work better together. According to Bloomberg, the chip will ensure reliable connections with wireless networks and peripherals such as headphones and speakers.

However, with Apple’s growing focus on HomeKit and Matter, this upgrade aims to address some reliability issues that previously hindered Apple’s smart home experience.

Additionally, this innovation aligns with Apple’s recent introduction of the Thread radio in devices like the iPhone 15 Pro, which laid the foundation for an enhanced smart home ecosystem.

Apple plans to roll out more smart home accessories next year, including a camera and doorbell. These additions, combined with the new wireless chip, highlight Apple’s plans to dominate the smart home market.

The upcoming HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K will be among the first to showcase the benefits of the Proxima chip, offering faster performance and better integration with Apple devices.
