Competition Commission of India (CCI) has downplayed the tech giant Apple's request to adjourn a probe initiated on the basis of the company allegedly involved in anti-competition practices.
"Apple's request to hold the investigation report in abeyance was deemed untenable," the CCI said in the order.
Citing an internal order from the Indian antitrust regulator, Reuters reported that the report allows the case to remain active.
CCI in August ordered to recommence investigation reports after the iPhone maker said the Together We Fight Society (TWFS) made its commercial secrets public in a case it lodged in 2021. The allegation also included including Tinder-owner Match in the publication of confidential data.
Given that, CCI asked both the parties to return the reports and demolish any copies, and later on issued new reports.
The CCI internal order showed that the TWFS did not comply with its directives to prove that old investigation reports had been destroyed.
This non-compliance prompted Apple to ask the regulator "to take action against TWFS for non-compliance with its order" and "to withhold the revised".
