With the magnitude of cyberattacks growing manifold owing to advancements in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), it's high time businesses equipped themselves to stand tall, but unfortunately, they are not. These are the remarks of a research titled "Cyber Defence & AI: Are You Ready to Protect Your Organisation?" conducted by Kaspersky.

The study indicated that owing to the continuous evolution in the capabilities of generative technology, there was a notable uptick in AI-backed cyberattacks on organisations. Because of AI assistance, these attacks are said to be more rigid, leaving victims vulnerable and less likely to establish defences.

The rapid surge in AI-assisted cyberattacks on businesses is triggered by various factors including a lack of skills, AI-powered tools and the ability to handle sophisticated cybersecurity systems to counter such threats.

Data quoted in the study was gathered from IT and information security professionals across small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large-scale enterprises, The News reported.

As 19% of research participants globally acknowledged their cyber defences to be weak, Kaspersky's research points to the need for businesses to arm themselves against A-driven cyber threats. It also tapped into potential hurdles organisations face putting in place unwavering cybersecurity and the unfavourable consequences of not doing so.

44% of organisations, among the research participants from around the world, attributed these attacks to their employees not receiving AI-related training, while many businesses cited the complexity of managing cybersecurity infrastructure, making them unlikely to stay ahead of attackers.
