In what appears to be a step forward in making ChatGPT a one-stop solution to everything a smartphone does, OpenAI has launched a major ChatGPT update bringing a new Company Knowledge feature to make it easier for teams to access and use company information.
The new company knowledge feature is available to Business, Enterprise, and Education users, allowing ChatGPT to connect with tools like Slack, Google Drive, SharePoint, and GitHub.
The new workspace feature is powered by a refined version of GPT-5, which transforms ChatGPT into a conversational search engine for workplaces.
It can pull data from multiple connected platforms, helping employees find accurate information instantly, without switching between apps.
The feature makes ChatGPT a central intelligence hub for teams. By analysing chats, documents, and tickets, it can summarise information and provide useful insights. For instance, ahead of a meeting, ChatGPT can compile a quick client briefing using notes from Google Docs, Slack discussions, and support messages.
The best part is that every response comes with clear citations to let users verify the source. The chatbot also understands vague queries like “What’s our progress on next year’s goals?” by scanning multiple documents and applying date filters to give context-aware replies.
Users need to enable *Company Knowledge* when starting a new chat, and while it's active, ChatGPT can’t browse the web or generate visuals but can respond using linked data.
OpenAI is said to be planning to expand the new ChatGPT feature further in the coming months.
