Recently, one of the leading AI-based companies ElevenLabs published a sound effects library using its AI model, including several categories such as instruments, nature, and animals.

ElevenLabs, founded two years ago, has developed AI models and tools for creating AI-generated voices with several languages, accents and emotions.

Converting text into realistic-sounding speech is one area where AI technology has been flourishing. ElevenLabs, with the addition of an AI-powered SFX library, is taking these technologies to new heights, coming in competition with Google's Gemini Live and OpenAI’s ChatGPT’s Voice Mode.

How ElevenLabs’ SFX library works

These new sounds in the SFX library introduced by ElevenLabs are great for bringing life to an AI-generated film, adding colours to a podcast, and bringing life to a video game. However, users who want a specific custom sound effect can generate one for themselves.

Whether someone is a film producer, a video game developer, a content creator, or simply a sound effects maker, they can browse this vast library of sound effects in 38 different categories.

However, on the first page, there is a selection of hand-picked sounds including sounds exactly like the start of some blockbuster movie trailer, followed by sounds like a perfect vintage radio.

Notably, the library offers a prompting guide, offering a better way to learn to utilise the AI model with real-world examples.

The introduction of the SFX library could potentially lead to inspiration for other AI models like Midjourney to create a similar feature for its platform.
