The electric vehicle (EV) market in Pakistan is about to take an enormous leap as Capital Smart Motors (CSM) is getting ready to take the wraps off the Forthing Friday REEV, which will be Pakistan's first-ever Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV).

This unique model offers the efficiency of a battery-powered EV while providing the use of an onboard generator, solving one of the biggest hurdles to EV adoption in Pakistan: range anxiety.

Branded as the "Ultimate NEV Rebel," the Forthing Friday offers a class-leading drive range of 1,150 kilometres and would be a perfect fit for longer trips, exactly like Lahore to Islamabad and back on a single charge.

The REEV concept allows multiple comparison points when considering the distance (over 600 kilometres solely on battery power [CLTC]) the vehicle can drive before the generator takes over seamlessly, which helps limit the variables that require one to charge frequently.

Key specs of the international variant include:

  • 150 kW peak motor power and 340 Nm torque
  • Top speed of 180 km/h
  • 85.9 kWh battery capacity with fast charging (30–80% in just 45 minutes)
  • Automatic transmission and a curb weight of 1,900 kg

CSM says the Forthing Friday is designed to handle both urban commutes and cross-country drives, offering comfort and capability for Pakistan’s evolving transport needs.
