Workspace users have had access to AI features for some time, but the standalone Gemini app has remained exclusive until now.

Gemini app for Workspace users
The Gemini AI assistant will now be available in two ways within the Workspace, as an AI assistant integrated into Workspace apps, including Docs, Sheets, and Meet and as a standalone chatbot interface available at gemini.google.com.
Till now, Gemini was accessible with a subscription of an additional monthly fee over Workspace subscriptions i.e. $20 per user each month for Gemini Business and $30 per user each month for Gemini Enterprise.
Starting from October 15, Workspace users on Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans will get access to the chatbot interface without an added subscription.
Here’s how Gemini app works
The Gemini app allows users to interact with the AI assistant and lets them ask questions regarding conversations held within Workspace apps without compromising company data.
“Workspace users will soon be able to control whether Gemini stores user prompts and responses, and for how long,” Google stated.
Furthermore, Google Gemini is also set to power Snapchat’s My AI chatbot which will allow Snapchat users to take a photo or video and ask the AI chatbot about it.
