
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Huawei Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at PTA Headquarters to improve cooperation in the IT and Telecom sectors.
This landmark move emphasises a shared vision for capacity building, promoting technological innovation, robust cybersecurity, and fostering digital inclusion.
It aims to drive advancements in 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and IoT, and to develop a robust digital framework while preparing to bridge the digital divide across Pakistan.
PTA Chairman and Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman (HIM), stated: “This MoU represents a significant step in Pakistan’s digital transformation, enabling enhanced infrastructure and fostering innovation for sustainable growth.”
He further underscored the significance of these partnerships to propel Pakistan into an advanced era of technological development and to remain ahead of the competition on a global scale.
While highlighting Huawei’s commitment to catalyse the nation’s growth, Huawei Pakistan Deputy CEO Mr. Ahmed Bilal Masud, stated: “Huawei remains committed to empowering Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and advancing its technological capabilities.”
This collaboration aligns with Pakistan’s broader vision to thrive in the digital era. As a part of this partnership, there will be a strong focus on empowerment initiatives, including awareness campaigns, training programmes, and more.
In addition, the MoU primarily focuses on cybersecurity. With the growing reliance on digital networks, ensuring their security has become a major priority. PTA and Huawei will collaboratively develop and implement cutting-edge cybersecurity measures to protect Pakistan’s digital infrastructure from emerging threats.
This agreement builds on Huawei’s global expertise in technological solutions and PTA’s regulatory leadership, aiming to bring transformation and attain financial sustainability across the country, further solidifying Pakistan’s position as a centre for innovation and paving the way for an advanced future.
