The wait for Instagram's iPad app is finally over; it is now available, with iPad users being able to use Instagram natively on the larger screen. The rollout is happening now on the App Store.

The iPad version has all the familiar elements like feed, stories and messaging, but Meta claims they redesigned the app with larger displays and an emphasis on Reels.

"With Instagram for iPad, we completely reimagined the experience to be about how people use larger screens today, for lean-back entertainment," the company said.

When users open the app, they will land on Reels first, with stories at the top and messaging just a tap away.

The app also adds a Following tab, which has three customisable feeds:

  • All: Posts and reels recommended for you from all accounts you follow
  • Friends: Content from accounts that follow you
  • Latest: Posts from accounts you follow in chronological order

Additionally, the iPad app supports a multi-column design for DMs, notifications, and browsing and provides a much quicker and smoother experience than the iPhone version.
