Instagram officially adds custom colours and emojis to notes

Instagram has introduced an entertaining new update, as users can now personalise their Notes using new colours and emojis, re-engaging the fun element of an already popular chat feature. Although this was long rumored, users are excited that it's now available worldwide.

Instagram Notes is a lightweight, casual way for you to share a thought with your followers; it's a short status-type message that appears at the top of your inbox and will disappear after 24 hours. 

Notably, Instagram is adding a little more creativity to how users share their moods or thoughts with their followers.

Now, Instagram's Notes feature will operate slightly differently:

• You will still type in your note as before
• Pressed and hold on the chat bubble to choose a background colour
• You can add an emoji to represent your vibe

Your note will be shown with the background colour and emoji you selected, but most importantly, other users can now copy your style for their notes without attributing it to you. Not only does this make Notes fun, it will also create a chain reaction of creative sharing of style.

Instagram has previously tested coloured Notes for themed days like festivals or campaigns, but this is the first time users have full control over the design of their Notes. It's a small change, but one that could make the inbox feel more alive and personal.
