iOS 18.2: Apple reintroduces volume slider with 'Always Show Volume Control'

With the launch of the first developer beta of iOS 18.2, Apple has brought back the volume slider capability with the latest “Always Show Volume Control” option available in the Settings app with several other significant upgrades, hosting the latest Apple Intelligence features for developers to test. 

The volume slider was previously removed with the release of iOS 16 in 2022.

Here’s how to find volume slider capability

  1. Firstly launch the Settings app.
  2. Now, click on “Accessibility.”
  3. Select “Audio and Visual.”
  4. Afterwards, toggle on and off the “Always Show Volume Control” option.

Volume slider will appear on your Lock Screen while using the headphones and the iPhone’s built-in speaker after enabling the toggle. It has come as a great surprise for the people. 

Moreover, iOS 18.2 in development is currently being tested and is only available to the latest flagship handsets that support Apple Intelligence such as (iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models). However, the update is expected to be rolled out to a broader audience by the end of the year.
