Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series in September at a launch event. While the hardware changes might remain subtle, the tech giant plans to equip the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max with upgraded cameras.
According to a recent leak from Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, both iPhone 17 models will reportedly feature identical camera setups.
iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max front camera
Both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to feature three rear cameras and one front-facing camera. The selfie camera will be a 24MP upgraded sensor for capturing better-quality selfies.

The tech giant will include a 48MP main sensor, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom on the rear.
The main sensor might be slightly smaller than the iPhone 16 Pro models; however, the periscope telephoto lens will offer a higher resolution, enhancing zoom capabilities and image sharpness.
iPhone 17 series camera design
As for the camera design, earlier it was reported that the prototypes of the iPhone 17 Pro models feature a horizontal camera island on the rear, similar to the Google Pixel smartphones. Notably, this claim contradicts the recent leaks.
Apple is yet to finalise the iPhone 17 Pro models' design yet and will make a final decision likely by March.
